HAND-STITCHED LEATHER COLLAR & LEASH SET IN WESTERN GEOMETRIC

This handmade collar and leash set is crafted individually from start to finish in my workshop in Denmark with a focus on quality, function, strength, and durability.

The set is made in Spanish Brown with a Chocolate Brown edge and Black backing. A hand-embossed geometric western-inspired pattern is highlighted with black details and an antique effect. The combination of the warm brown leather color, the dark contrasts, and solid brass hardware gives the set a classic western look with clear depth and character.

The collar and leash are designed as a matching set, where the geometric pattern and black details are repeated on both pieces.

Both the collar and the leash are made and finished by hand, and the natural variations in the leather help make each set unique.

MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP

The set is made from vegetable-tanned leather from Hermann Oak®, a traditional American tannery that has been producing leather since 1881.

Hermann Oak® is known for its dense fiber structure, strength, and ability to develop a beautiful, natural patina over time. Vegetable-tanned leather changes with use and gradually becomes more supple, while retaining the strength and structure that make it particularly suitable for products intended to last for many years.

Since leather is a natural material, minor variations in texture, color, and surface may occur. Natural markings and variations are part of the material's character and also mean that no two sets will be identical.

All parts are cut, shaped, and finished individually by hand.

HAND-STITCHED WITH TRADITIONAL SADDLE STITCHING

Both the collar and the leash are hand-stitched using traditional saddle stitching and strong, waxed Ritza Tiger Thread.

With saddle stitching, two needles are used through each stitch hole, constructing the seam differently than a standard machine stitch. If a thread were to be damaged or worn through, the seam will therefore not simply unravel like a traditional machine stitch.

Saddle stitching is a time-consuming craft technique, but it has been chosen specifically to create a strong and durable construction suitable for products that are subjected to daily use and stress.

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION

The geometric western-inspired design is embossed individually directly into the leather by hand. The hand-embossed pattern is combined with fine textured details and black contrast areas, while the antique effect highlights the deeper areas of the embossing, giving the pattern additional depth and character.

The same design is repeated on both the collar and the leash, so the two pieces form a cohesive set. The black details continue along the edges, creating a clear contrast to the leather's warm Spanish Brown color.

Both the collar and the leash are then carefully finished, and the edges are rounded and treated by hand to create a smooth, refined finish.

HARDWARE

The set comes with solid brass hardware.

The collar is equipped with a solid brass buckle and D-ring.

The leash is equipped with a solid brass trigger hook and O-ring.

The hardware is selected with a focus on function, strength, and a look that complements the leather's design.

HOW TO MEASURE

Measure the dog's neck with a soft measuring tape where the collar is usually worn. The tape should fit snugly around the neck without being tight.

Use the dog's actual neck measurement when ordering – do not add extra centimeters to the measurement yourself.

MADE TO ORDER

This set is made individually after ordering and is not a mass-produced stock item.

The normal production time is approx. 2–6 weeks before shipping. For particularly detailed designs, personalization, or custom orders, the production time may vary.

Because each set is made by hand from natural leather, minor variations in color, embossing, texture, and finish may occur compared to the product photos. These variations are a natural part of both the material and the craftsmanship and make each set individual.

CARE & NATURAL WEAR

Genuine vegetable-tanned leather develops naturally with use and will eventually gain its own patina.

To preserve the collar and leash as well as possible, it is recommended to avoid prolonged soaking. The products should therefore not be used as swimming or bathing gear.

If the leather gets wet, it should dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat from radiators, hair dryers, or other heat sources.

As the leather is hand-dyed, some minor color transfer may occur, especially initially, if the leather becomes wet or very damp. Therefore, be especially careful with contact with very light fur, textiles, and other light surfaces. This usually subsides as the leather is used and develops naturally.

As handmade products in genuine leather, the surfaces of the collar and leash will naturally evolve with use. The products are continuously exposed to friction, moisture, dirt, and other mechanical influences, so visible signs of wear may appear in the leather finish over time.

On designs with antique effects, hand-painted details, or other decorative surface treatments, this impact may gradually become more visible in particularly exposed areas. This is a natural part of normal use and the development of the leather and does not in itself affect the product's function or construction.

Dirt can be gently wiped off with a slightly damp, soft cloth. The leather can be cared for with a suitable care product for vegetable-tanned leather if needed.

Proper care helps maintain the leather's suppleness, appearance, and lifespan.
